The Reverend Dr. Burr was a direct descendant of Nathaniel Burr of Fairfield, Conn., a brother of Jehue Burr from Aaron Burr, the vice-president, was descended. Chiefly correspondence and diaries of James Wesley Cooper documenting his career as a Congregational minister, and his service as a Fellow of Yale University (1886-1916). The only personal correspondence are forty-four letters from Cooper to his fiancée in 1865 and fourteen additional letters (1877-1905). The papers of Ray Palmer (1808-1887) and his son Charles Ray Palmer (1834-1914), both clergymen. The Ray Palmer papers consist of correspondence, two letterbooks, sermons, hymns and poems, diaries, a memoir, and other materials. The letterbooks contain correspondence from ministers and a few public officials. In the Charles Ray Palmer papers are essays, poems, notes on lectures given at Andover Theological Seminary by Edwards A. Park, sermons, writings and miscellaneous papers.
