Biography
Gerard Malanga is an American poet, photographer, and filmmaker. He was born in New York in 1943 and studied at the School of Industrial Art and Wagner College. He was Andy Warhol's chief assistant from 1963 to 1970 and, in addition to starring in many of Warhol's early films, he also made and starred in films of his own. His books of poetry include This Will Kill That (1978) and Mythologies of the Heart (1996), and his books of photography include Good Girls (1994) and Resistance to Memory (1998). He also edited a book on voyeurism in photography entitled Scopophilia: The Love of Looking (1985). Malanga lives and works in New York.
