Abstract: The papers document the military career of a topographical engineer in the nineteenth century. The collection contains correspondence, reports, maps, and data from astronomical observations created during the surveys of the Northeastern and Mexican boundaries, a review of the Mason-Dixon Line, a project to improve the Great Lakes's harbors, and a survey of the North and North West Lakes.
