Barbara Hammer (1939-2019) was a filmmaker, visual artist, and teacher of filmmaking and visual arts. Born in Hollywood, California, Hammer created over eighty films and videos during her career, including her most well-known work, Nitrate Kisses. Hammer's film, photography, and artwork was featured in international film festivals, museum retrospectives, and exhibitions all over the world. Hammer also taught filmmaking and visual arts at institutions including the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland.
