Polly Luckett Murray papers

Polly Luckett Murray (1934-2019) was an artist and resident of Lyme, Connecticut whose documentation of local illness and advocacy work prompted the medical investigation that identified Lyme disease. After the bacteria and means of transmission were identified she worked to raise public awareness of Lyme disease and authored The Widening Circle: a Lyme disease pioneer tells her story. The collection documents Murray's data collection of symptoms experienced by herself, members of her family, and members of the community; communications with the Connecticut State Department of Health and Dr. Allen C. Steere of the Department of Rheumatology at Yale University School of Medicine; and public awareness work. Materials in the collection include notes; research materials; scrapbooks of newspaper articles (originals and photocopies); photo albums; slides; VHS, DVD, and cassette tape recordings; ephemera; and publications.
