Immediate Source of Acquisition

Acquisition Information, 1927: Purchased in Egypt on behalf of Yale, with funds that may have been donated by the General Education Fund of the Rockefeller Foundation's General Education Board. The dealers' names are given as Harold Idris Bell reported them in his 1927 report.| P.CtYBR inv. 168-212, and 2147-2154, were purchased by Francis Willey Kelsey and David L. Askren from Tadaros in Medinet el-Faiyum, late 1926 or early 1927. The manuscripts were brought to Yale from the British Museum between 9 May and 11 October 1927.

Access Information

The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours. You can request collection material online at least two business days in advance of your visit, using the request links in Archives at Yale.
