Scope and Contents

Series I, Correspondence, is organized into three subseries: General Correspondence, Family Correspondence, and Other Correspondence. General Correspondence is arranged alphabetically. Letters from correspondents not listed individually may be found in "letter" general files. Family Correspondence is listed according to the relationship with Henri: parents first, brother second, etc. Letters to members of the family from others are placed after all the listings of Henri's correspondence with family members.

Access Information

The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours. You can request collection material online at least two business days in advance of your visit, using the request links in Archives at Yale.
