Scope and Contents

Holograph poems with corrections in pencil and ink.

Pages numbered 12-26 include "A Song," "Song," "Lines," "Who is Worse?," "Beethoven," "The Modern Maid," "Woman," "To A Young Beauty Riding the Wheel," and "The Last Straw of Hope." Pages numbered 145, 147-153 include "The Woodlands," "Lines," "Recollection," "Emy," "Written in R.R. Coupe (France)," and "The Waterfall." Pages numbered 32-38 on rectos and 289-300 on versos include "Morning Mists," "To the Sand Verbena," "Conjectures," '"What Fools We Mortals Be,"' and "To the Gull." An unnumbered page in front of page 145 contains four lines beginning, "Sweetest the time when sunshine gleams glorious."

Access Information

The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours.
