Description of the Papers

The papers consist of scripts, notes, rehearsal schedules, venue descriptions and other materials that document the productions of August Wilson’s Seven Guitars in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and on Broadway in New York City, in 1995-1996. The material also provides a record of how characters and dialogue in the play were changed and developed during these productions. Also included are several corrected proofs of the script as it was being prepared for publication by Penguin USA.

Sandi Carroll

Sandi Carroll is an American actor, educator, director and producer. She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from Boston University, and a Master’s of Fine Arts degree from the University of Virginia. In 1995 and 1996, Carroll worked as August Wilson’s assistant and dramaturg on early productions of his play Seven Guitars.

Processing Information

Collections are processed to a variety of levels, depending on the work necessary to make them usable, their perceived research value, the availability of staff, competing priorities, and whether or not further accruals are expected. The library attempts to provide a basic level of preservation and access for all collections, and does more extensive processing of higher priority collections as time and resources permit.

Material formerly housed in three-ring binders was removed for preservation purposes.

Opening Hours

Access Information

The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours.
