The collection consists of photographs taken by Larry Qualls documenting contemporary art exhibitions at galleries and other exhibition spaces throughout New York City and elsewhere. Photographs include color slides organized in binders by gallery season, digital scans of the slides, and born digital photographs. Also found are files relating to the Creative Artists Public Service Program and Visual Arts Referral Service, consisting of correspondence, resumes, photographic prints, application forms, slides, clippings and photocopies. The collection is an important source of contemporary art images, and provides an comprehensive overview of New York City contemporary art exhibitions in the late twentieth century and the early twenty-first century, documenting prominent, emerging, and aspiring artists.
