Biographical / Historical
In 1981, Schreiber began an 18-month journey through Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. He visited multiple ranches, riding and camping out with cowboys while on cattle drives. Photographs documenting this Western cowboy culture were published in Last of a breed: portraits of working cowboys (Austin, Texas: Texas Monthly Press, 1982), a work financed by multiple ranch owners.
