Scope and Contents
The George Platt Lynes Diaries & Memorabilia is organized into two series. Series I, Diaries , the largest component, consists of diaries and datebooks which record his activities and thoughts, starting with a journal of Lynes' first trip to Europe in 1925 and ending with entries in a pocket datebook just weeks before his death in 1955. Though his early and later years are well documented, there are no diaries for the years 1931-1941. Series II, Memorabilia , consists of a few odd personal items, including a notebook of dinners given during the early 1940s and printed versions of writings by Glenway Wescott.

Abstract

GEORGE PLATT LYNES [1907-1955]
George Platt Lynes is best known as a portrait, fashion, and nude photographer. He spent several years living with and traveling with Glenway Wescott and Monroe Wheeler.

Access Information
The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours.
