The Fishing Manuscripts Collection consists of manuscripts, typescripts, photographs, and other documents relating to fishing, flies for fishing, and fishing trips taken. Most of the items were formerly in the collection of David Wagstaff (1882-1951).

Gift of Isabelle Tilford Wagstaff, 1951-1953. Purchased from Wormser on the David Wagstaff Memorial Fund, 1952. Gift of Vernon S. Hidy, 1968, 1975. Gift of Lindley Eberstadt, 1969. David Wagstaff (1882-1951)

David Wagstaff, broker, sportsman and collector of sporting books, paintings and prints, served as the Curator of Sporting Books in the Yale University Library from 1943 to 1951.

Access Information

The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours. You can request collection material online at least two business days in advance of your visit, using the request links in Archives at Yale.
