Series III: 1944 to 1952: American Relations in Post-War China and Iran, 1944 - 1952
Scope and Contents
Series III includes all material on Paxton's involvement in post-war China, first as Cultural Attaché to Shanghai, then as Consul to Tihwa, and finally as advocate and friend of refugees from Communist China. It also contains some overlapping material on Paxton's brief tenure as Consul to Isfahan.
Writings in this series are divided into reports, memoranda, press releases, clippings, published articles, unpublished books, and language notes. Each is arranged chronologically.
Outgoing correspondence is arranged chronologically, while incoming correspondence is arranged alphabetically by author.
This series also contains photographs of Northwestern China and Iran.
