Biographical / Historical
The Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA) was founded in 1968 as Los Hermanos and changed its name to United Mexican American Students (UMAS) when Yale College started admitting women in 1969. Later in 1969, the group changed their name to its current form.
