Scope and Contents

This autograph collection consists of approximately eighty letters and documents signed primarily by European and American political, diplomatic, and military figures of the seventeenth through nineteenth centuries, including Giuseppe Garibaldi, William Gladstone, Andrew Jackson, Lajos Kossuth, and Napoléon I. The items are arranged in alphabetical order by author. The collection was given to Yale University in 1961 by Harold Lamport and Mrs. H. L. Friedman.
