Boris Novikoff papers

 Collection
Call Number: MS 1467

Scope and Contents

The Boris Novikoff Papers consist of letters from Helene Novikoff to her son Boris, while he was employed as a general assistant by the Gold Coast Selection Trust Limited, a gold mining company in West Africa. The almost daily letters in Russian from Helene in Middlesex, England to Boris in the area of Dunkwa (in present day Ghana) concern Helene Novikoff's health, finances, and routine activities. In the letters she frequently expresses anxiety about her son's welfare. At the end of the papers there are a few items of memorabilia and printed matter relating to the Gold Coast Selection Trust Limited and notes concerning the geology of West Africa.

The Yale University Library received the Boris Novikoff Papers with another purchase from Charles Apfelbaum in 1987.
