Scope and Contents
The Félix Martí-Ibáñez Papers date from 1935 until 1977 and consist of correspondence, writings, research and teaching material, lectures, photographs, audio tape recordings, and awards of Martí-Ibáñez. Also included are the administrative files of MD Publications.

Copyright is retained by the donor of this collection, Verna Sabelle, for materials authored or otherwise produced by Félix Martí-Ibáñez. After the lifetime of the donor, her copyright passes to Yale University. Copyright status for other collection materials is unknown. Transmission or reproduction of materials protected by U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.) beyond that allowed by fair use requires the written permission of the copyright owners. Works not in the public domain cannot be commercially exploited without permission of the copyright owners. Responsibility for any use rests exclusively with the user.

The papers consist of professional and personal correspondence, manuscripts, articles and essays, research materials, copies of his published works, administrative files of MD Publications and miscellaneous biographical and professional materials. These papers form part of the Contemporary Medical Care and Health Policy Collection.
Biographical / Historical
Félix Martí-Ibáñez (1915-1972): physician, editor; M.D., U. Madrid; general director of public health and social services, Catalonia, Spain, 1937, and then Undersecretary of Public Health and Social Services for Spain; director of wartime health education, Catalonia, 1937-1938; medical director Winthrop Products, Inc., N.Y., 1942-1946, and of E.R. Squibb & Sons, 1946-1950; founded MD Publications in 1950; professor and director of history of medicine department, NY Medical College-Flower Fifth Avenue Hospitals, NY.
Correspondence from Josefina Martí de Barrera (sister of Martí-Ibáñez) was returned to the donor, June 2003.
