Scope and Contents
The Leon Mitkiewicz Papers consist of six volumes of typescript writings by Leon Mitkiewicz (1896-), a Polish military and diplomatic official in the First and Second World Wars. Five of the volumes are drafts of three of Mitkiewicz's published books, but one of them ("Kowno Reminiscences") has some material, in English, that does not appear in the printed version. The sixth volume, "Assorted Articles," contains writings on the World Wars, United States foreign policy, and several twentieth-century Polish leaders. Some of the articles have names of Polish-language newspapers handwritten on them, which may mean that they were published there. All the Mitkiewicz Papers are in Polish except for parts of "Kowno Reminiscences."
