Abstract

Biographical / Historical

Constance M. Syford was born in Nebraska in 1889. She earned a B.A. in 1909 and an M.A. in 1911 from the University of Nebraska. She was a scholar of Early English literature. During her long career she taught English at Albright College, Millikin University, and the University of Nebraska, among others institutions. She completed much of the work for her Ph.D. at Yale University, but passed away in 1965 before finishing her dissertation. A memoir with extracts from her letters was independently published after her death.
