Scope and Contents

The Yale Miscellaneous Manuscripts Collection contains material which pertains primarily to Yale and its graduates. It includes such items as correspondence, diaries, writings, and memorabilia. The collection spans the entire history of Yale; a significant portion of the holdings dates from the eighteenth century.

The collection consists of two series. Series I is arranged alphabetically by author. Series II is arranged numerically in order of acquisition.

Existence and Location of Copies

Yale Miscellaneous Manuscript No. 77, Warner Thornton McGuinn scrapbook relating to politics and civil rights in Baltimore, Maryland, 1901-1918 is available on microfilm (157 frames on 1 reel, 35mm.) from Manuscripts and Archives, Yale University Library, at cost. Order no. HM198.

Nathaniel W. Taylor's journal of a voyage to Hurd's Island, 1857-1859, in Series I, is available on microfilm (66 frames on 1 reel, 35 mm.) from Manuscripts and Archives, Yale University Library, at cost. Order no. HM268.

Conditions Governing Use

Robert U. Redpath III and his son, Ian D. W. Redpath, retain to themselves during their lifetimes all copyright and other property rights that they may have in the papers and other materials donated to the Yale University Library until their deaths or April 9, 2058, whichever occurs first, after which these rights will become the property of Yale University Library. (Series II. Numerical. box 73, item no. 292). Randall Alfred transferred to Yale University any copyright and other property rights he may have for any unpublished materials he may have authored or otherwise produced. (Series II. Numerical. box 73, item no. 299). These materials may be used for non-commercial purposes without seeking permission from Yale University as the copyright holder. For other uses of these materials, please contact mssa.assist@yale.edu. Jean R. Becton and William M. Redpath transferred to Yale University any copyright and other property rights they have in the unpublished materials authored or otherwise produced by Robert U. Redpath. (Series II.
