The collection consists of photocopies of documents in the Russian State Military Archive (Rossiskii Gosudarstvennyi Voennyi Arkhiv) in Moscow. The documents relate to German-Soviet military and economic relations between 1918 and 1941, and the use of Soviet tanks in the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939.

Purchased with the assistance of the Smith Richardson Foundation and transferred from the International Security Program; gift of George Hofmann, 2001.

Arranged in two series and four additions: Series I: German-Soviet Military Cooperation, 1918-1934. Series II. Soviet Tanks in the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939.
