The archives of Derek E. Briggs encompassing his career at Yale. These include primarily specimen information.
Biographical Sketch
Briggs received his B.A. from Trinity College, Dublin in 1972. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1976. In 1977 he began teaching at the University of London. He followed this with a stint at the University of Bristol from 1985-2002. He came to Yale in 2003 as a professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics and Curator in Charge of the Division of Invertebrate Paleontology at the Yale Peabody Museum. He served as director of the Peabody from 2008-2014. His research focuses on the preservation and evolutionary significance of exceptionally preserved fossil biotas.
