The archives of G. Edward Lewis, accumulated during his time at Yale.
Biographical Sketch
G. Edward Lewis (b. October 27, 1908, d. May 11, 1997). Yale PhB 1930, PhD 1937. Curator Vert. Paleo. 1939-45. On Yale geol. faculty 37-45. Later, geologist on U.S. Geol. Survey. Worked in Navel Intelligence during WWII. Discovered the first specimen of Ramapithecus as a graduate student working in the Siwalik Hills of India in the 1930s. Also took part in the American Museum-Sinclair Expedition in the 1930s, working as Barnum Brown's chief assistant and photographer.
