Series VI: MSS 29A [Part 2] - Photographs

 Series
Call Number: MSS 29, MSS 29A, Series VI

Scope and Contents

Photographs are divided into six subseries: A. Virgil Thomson alone (arranged chronologically); B. Virgil Thomson and Others (arranged by the last name of the other person, if there is more than one other person then cross-references have been made); C. Family (arranged alphabetically); D. Others (arranged alphabetically); E. Places (arranged alphabetically); and F. Stage Works (arranged alphabetically). Each photograph has been assigned a unique number, which has been added in pencil on the back and on the acid-free envelope or folder. The description in the register includes name/s, title, or place, followed, when known, by date, name of the photographer or studio, place, number of negatives, slides, proof sheets, or tintypes, and any other information. Photographs originally in the scrapbooks were removed after being photocopied or microfilmed. They are now filed with the other photographs. A note appears on the back of these scrapbook photographs.
