Scope and Contents
This series is divided into three subseries: A. Music - Manuscript and Printed Music Given to the Yale University Music Library 22 March 1991 and Earlier; B. Manuscript Music Given to the Yale University Music Library 17 December 1991; and C. Manuscript Music and Correspondence Given to the Yale University Music Library 17 December 1991.
Subseries A is an alphabetical list by composer which includes the items kept by the Yale University Music Library. Rare items have been cataloged separately, and may be accessed by Yale University Music Library's online catalog. The remaining items are those with markings and or inscriptions, as well as those with heavy usage or some significance. These items have box and folder numbers at the end of each entry. A card file of the library which came with the Papers is housed in boxes 103 to 105. Notes with further information, notes for items not found, and cards for items found without cards have been added to this file.
Four loose-leaf notebooks containing photocopies of published music, repertoire for recitals, are listed and housed at the end of the alphabetical list by composer.
Subseries B is a list of holograph music which are enclosures in correspondence. They are housed with I. CORRESPONDENCE and listed here with cross-references.
Subseries C is an alphabetical listing of holograph correspondence by composer. These items have been transferred to Misc. Ms. 372, Miscellaneous Letters and Documents File.

The Papers are open to qualified researchers by appointment. There are no restricted materials in the collection. Please contact the Special Collections staff to schedule an appointment. Some of the materials may be stored at the Library's off-campus shelving facility, so researchers should allow at least two business days to have the appropriate boxes paged.
