The Galeazzi Collection

Scope and Contents

The Galeazzi Collection consists primarily of copyists' manuscripts of 19th-century Italian opera excerpts. These excerpts appear as full scores, as vocal scores with piano, or as chamber music arrangements for various combinations of instruments. The Collection also holds copyists' scores of 19th-century chamber music. Composers include Alard, Baldoni, Beethoven, Bellini, Bizet, Boccherini, Borroni, Bottesini, Comandini, Coppola, Donizetti, Federici, Flotow, Galeazzi, Giorgetti, Giuliozzi, Gounod, Haydn, Krommer, Kuhlau, Lipinski, Lombardi, Masseau, Massenet, Mayr, Mayseder, Mercadante, Morlacchi, Mosca, Mozart, Nicolini, Onslow, Pacini, Paër, Paganini, Paoletti, Peri, Perosi, Persiani, Petrella, Petrini-Zamboni, Pleyel, Ponchielli, Ricci, Ronzi, Rossini, Rutini, Schall, Schubert, Sessa, Vaccai, Verdi, and Zingarelli.

The Galeazzi Collection is the physical property of the Irving S. Gilmore Music Library of Yale University. Copyrights belong to the composers and authors, or their legal heirs and assigns.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Galeazzi Collection was purchased by the Music Library of Yale University from a member of the Galeazzi family, Marchesa Novella Castiglioni, in 1971.
