Biographical / Historical

Siegrun H. Folter (née Heinecke), was born in 1930, in what was to become East Germany. She edited and catalogued the literature of music, including the third edition of the Library of Congress classification schedule for music. She also wrote the book, "Private Libraries of Musicians and Musicologists: A Bibliography of Catalogues." Folter earned a bachelor's degree in French from Rochester University, a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois and doctoral degrees in German and Russian from the University of Kansas. At the time of her death in 1988, she was a professor at Lehman College in New York City.
