William Appleton Aiken papers

Overview: The papers consist of correspondence, writings, research materials, and autograph letters relating to the literary work of William Appleton Aiken on the life of Daniel Fitch, second Earl of Nottingham. Also included are Aiken's personal papers including his diaries as an army intelligence officer in the Middle East during World War II and an exhibition scrapbook prepared by the Overseas Branch of the Office of War Information.

The papers contain some material relating to the Bauhaus school but the bulk of the material dates from Albers's arrival in the United States. The largest part of the papers is composed of published material by or about Albers or which contain reproductions of his work.

Ralph Albertson papers

Overview: The papers consist of correspondence, writings, personal files, and photographs documenting Ralph Albertson's professional career. The most substantive portion of the collection is comprised of published and unpublished writings on various topics, including religion and the cooperative movement. The writings include novels, plays, articles, and books. There are also noteworthy photographs of Russia and the Siberian front, 1917-1918.

Lawrence Allderdice scrapbook

Overview: A photographic scrapbook documenting the life of Lawrence Allderdice (1896-1937), Sheffield Scientific School, 1918. Included are photographs of Allderdice's family, his hometown of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and surrounding areas, travels throughout the United States and abroad, and some photographs of Yale area buildings, including the Book and Snake Tomb and the Cloister Club House. The scrapbook also features a group portrait of the Sheffield Scientific School class of 1918.

Alling family papers

Overview: Chiefly legal papers of the Alling family of New Haven, Connecticut. Included are ninety Connecticut deeds (1742-1871) many of which are for Orange and Milford, Connecticut. The largest group of papers concerns Joseph Alling and the estate of his father Chauncey Alling. Other items are a report of Thaddeus Alling's estate (1832), an application for oyster grounds in New Haven by Chauncey Alling, and a book of poetry by Anna L. Johnson.
