Although records relating to his career are relatively scanty, two manuscript drafts of his autobiography, Pioneer Progress, are among the writings. The major part of the papers consists of reports and maps on the holdings of the Rochester Mines Company in Humboldt County, Nevada (1916-1917). During this period Knopf was on the staff of the U.S. Geological Survey. Also a small amount of professional correspondence and lecture notes, chiefly relating to his career as a professor of geology at Yale University.
