Overview: The collection consists of material generated by Curt von Faber du Faur as author, collector, literary historian, curator of the Yale Collection of German Literature, and Yale faculty member. Material comprises writings, including drafts of literary and critical works, articles, lectures, and essays; correspondence; and personal papers.

Overview: The Carl F. Schreiber Papers consist of material generated by Schreiber as curator of the William A. Speck Collection at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library and as a Yale faculty member. The bulk of the papers were left in the library when Schreiber retired; some material has been brought to the library by the Yale German Department and by occupants of the Palmer Schreiber Library in Bingham Tower.
