Astronomical Observatory, Yale University, records
The records consist of correspondence, letter books, financial papers, reports, and recommendations documenting the period of planning and construction of the Astronomical Observatory, also known as the Yale University Observatory. Notable contributors to the records include Leonard Waldo, astronomer in charge of the Horological Bureau of the Observatory; Robert Brown, secretary of the Board of Managers; and Hubert A. Newton, director of the observatory.

Correspondence, manuscripts, and other papers largely relating to Lyman Hotchkiss Bagg's interest in boating; his editorship of the Yale Literary Magazine, 1868-1869; and his weekly "College Chronicle" written for the New York World, 1876-1882. Also included are student translations from Latin and Greek, and correspondence and memorabilia from his years at Yale College, 1865-1869.
George Alfred Baitsell papers
Correspondence, experimental records, and miscellaneous papers related to George Baitsell (1885-1971) and his professional activities. Nearly one third of the papers consists of research material including laboratory data, reports, and recommendations based on a study of poisonous gases conducted for the U.S. Army Chemical Warfare Service, 1917-1919. His research on tuberculosis, for which he received a grant in 1925 is also documented here.
Baker family papers
The papers consist of letters exchanged by Oliver and Otis Baker, both graduates of Yale. Also included are letters to Otis Baker from his sister, Hannah Baker Lang, and letters to both Oliver and Otis Baker from others. A declamation by Oliver Baker is also part of the papers. There is reference to and some description of Yale life, interesting comments on being a teacher, and general comments on what life was like for a young man of the time.
Kempton D. Baldridge diary documenting his service in the Persian Gulf War
The material consists of a travel diary documenting Reverend Kempton D. Baldridge's (Yale Divinity 1988) tenure as command chaplain aboard the U.S.S. Thomas S. Gates during Operation Desert Shield and the Persian Gulf War.

Correspondence, field reports, memoranda, and government documents chiefly relating to Bateman's service on various government commissions, among them the Metals and Minerals Division of the Foreign Economic Administration (1942-1946), the U.S. Missions to Mexico (1942), the President's Materials Policy Commission (1951-1953). The few items from his teaching career at Yale include gradebooks for the years 1907-1955 and reports on the Sheffield Scientific School.
Bates family papers
Miscellaneous papers of the Bates family of Springfield, Massachusetts. One of the two principal figures is Elijah Bates (Y.1794) with accounts of his expenses at Yale College, some notes on his reading and the text of a play in which he took part. Isaac Chapman Bates (Y.1802) is represented with a petition to the president of Yale College, two letters and an obituary notice.
Robert Chapman Bates papers
Correspondence, diaries, notebooks, school papers, photographs, and memorabilia. The major part of the papers is made up of family correspondence (1908-1942) most of which consists of letters from Bates to his family written from boarding school and during his travels abroad. Also included are thirteen notebooks compiled while he was a graduate student in early French and Italian literature at Yale University.
Battell family papers
The papers consist of ninety-four family letters (1810-1853), the diaries of Sarah Robbins Battell and three of her daughters, and twenty-seven letters (1889-1894) to Robbins Battell.
