Carroll and Helen Yerkes were American Presbyterian missionaries in Shandong (Shantung) Province from 1904 to 1925. The parents of Helen Nevius Eckard Yerkes were Presbyterian missionaries stationed in Chefoo from 1869 to 1874.

Mason Pressly Young M.D., his wife Louise, and his sister Lois were Southern Presbyterian missionaries in China from 1916 to 1949.
