The papers consist of correspondence from William Lyon Phelps to Lewis Charles Everard. Everard had been secretary to Phelps from 1904 to 1908 and his colleague in the Department of English. The men corresponded intermittently until shortly before their deaths, both in August, 1943. The letters are of a routine social nature.
