The William Rose Benét papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, printed material, and personal and family papers documenting the life and work of American author and editor William Rose Benét. The collection spans the years 1847 to 1957, with the bulk of the collection dating from roughly 1900 to 1950.
Collection material is chiefly in English; with some material in French, Italiana, Russian, and Hebrew.
The collection consists of alphabetically arranged correspondence between readers of Esquire Magazine and the magazine's editors concerning an article by Richard Rovere on the question of Ezra Pound's possible release from his continuing incarceration in St. Elizabeth's Hospital for the Insane. Respondents include John Dos Passos, Robert Graves, Norman Mailer, Kenneth Rexroth, William Carlos Williams, and Richard Wilbur.
The Dudley Fitts Papers consists chiefly of writings and correspondence relating to the production of the first American edition of An Anthology of Contemporary Latin-American Poetry (New Directions, 1942).
The collection is comprised of materials from the estate of Robert M. Furniss, Jr., who served as Ezra Pound's attorney from 1953-1958, when Pound was hosiptalized at St. Elizabeth's psychiatric hospital in Washington, D.C. Materials in the collection include correspondence, financial records, printed materials, and other papers relating to Ezra and Dorothy Pound and Furniss's administration of their affairs. it also includes records of dental expenses for Sherri Martinelli.
The Robert McAlmon Papers consist of letters to McAlmon from literary friends, including William Carlos Williams, Ezra Pound, James Joyce, and Gertrude Stein; manuscripts of several of his writings; and a small quantity of photographs and related papers.
The collection consists of letters and a few manuscripts by or related to Ezra Pound. Correspondents include Ubaldo degli Uberti; Ethel de Courcy Duncan; Robert Duncan; Gladys Hines; Lewis Maverick; Donald J. Paquette; Odon Por; and Louis Zukofsky. Manuscripts include holographs of "To Our Lady of Vicarious Atonement" and "What I Feel about Walt Whitman" by Pound and biographical notes on Pound by Lewis Maverick.
The Ezra Pound Papers document the literary career and political interests of Ezra Pound. Major correspondents include Richard Aldington, George Antheil, William Bird, T. S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, James Laughlin, Wyndham Lewis, Marianne Moore, Odon Por, and Henry Swabey. The collection contains manuscripts of many of Pound's works, including the Cantos, Guide to Kulchur, and scripts of Pound's wartime radio broadcasts.
