This collection documents the life and work of medical missionary Hyla Stowell Watters (1893-1987). Watters served at Wuhu General Hospital in Anhui Province, China, and then at the Methodist Mission hospital in Ganta, Liberia, before spending her later years in Tupper Lake, New York. The collection also contains materials gathered by author Elsie Hayes Landstrom for the publication of Hyla Doc, two books based on Hyla’s life.

Following their return from China they served at a Church of the Brethren mission among the Navajo Indians in Lybrook, New Mexico.
Ingram Family Papers
Extensive correspondence in the Ingram Family Papers provides insight into China in the early twentieth century with descriptions of missionary and medical activities over thirty years, including exile during the Boxer Rebellion, work in convalescent hospitals and famine refugee camps in the wake of World War I, views inside the Forbidden City in the last years of the Qing dynasty, and documentation of the expat culture of Beijing and repatriation amid the chaos of World War II.
International Association for Mission Studies Records
These materials represent the official archives of the International Association for Mission Studies from its formation through 2012. IAMS is an international, inter-confessional, and interdisciplinary professional society for the scholarly study of Christian witness and its impact in the world. The association was inaugurated in 1972 at Driebergen, the Netherlands. From 1972 to 2012, IAMS held thirteen international conferences on five continents.

He was one of the founders of the Syrian Protestant College, later known as the American University of Beirut.

Wilson Edward Manly, his wife Florence and daughters Marian and Grace were American Methodist missionaries in Sichuan (Szechwan) province from 1893 to 1943.
