Medical diplomas and certificates collection
The collection includes medical diplomas from universities, certificates from medical organizations, certificates of appointment to medical positions, award certificates, and invitations to events circa 1662-1965. The collection includes manuscript and printed items, most with signatures. The bulk of materials are from Europe and the United States. The collection includes numerous diplomas from the Yale School of Medicine.
Medical manuscripts collection
This artificial collection is composed of correspondence, journals, account books, manuscripts, scrapbooks, and printed material relating to the study and practice of medicine, primarily in Connecticut and New York, primarily in the nineteenth century.
Medical trade card collection
This collection contains about a thousand chromolithograph advertising trade cards related to health, nutrition, and remedies, published from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century. The majority of the trade cards were produced by the Liebig Extract of Meat Company, Antwerp, Brussels, founded in 1865. Other trade cards in the collection were distributed mostly by American patent medicine manufacturers.
Lafayette Benedict Mendel papers
The papers are composed of family and professional correspondence, writings, diaries, scientific notebooks, research files, photographs, and memorabilia which relate to Lafayette Mendel's research on nutrition and growth. Professional correspondents include both Yale colleagues and scientists and nutritionists from around the world. Topical files also document his activities as chairman of the Department of Physiological Chemistry (1920-1935).
Charles Griswold Gurley Merrill papers
The papers consist of diaries, letters, and miscellanea documenting Charles Griswold Gurley Merrill's voyages as a seaman on the ship Merrimac and experiences as a Union army surgeon, including command of black troops, during the Civil War. Also included is an essay describing the papers, written by one of Merrill's descendants.

New England Grenfell Association records
The records include correspondence, minutes of meetings, office files, financial and legal papers, and memorabilia of the New England Grenfell Association, founded in 1914 to promote missionary and medical work in Labrador and Newfoundland.
New Haven County Medical Association records
The records consist of minutes and tax and statistics books documenting the operations and activities of the New Haven County Medical Association, which formed in 1784 as the Medical Society of New-Haven County.

The papers include correspondence and photographs which document the medical career of Eric Oldberg. The papers focus on Oldberg's work with Harvey Cushing.
Oliver Thomas Osborne papers
Student notebooks, writings, lectures given at the Yale Medical School, photographs, and memorabilia relating to Osborne's professional career. The largest part of the papers consists of the lectures given at Yale between 1924 and 1925. Also included is a matriculation book from Leipzig University (1884-1885) and other notebooks, printed matter, and speeches on medical subjects. Several photographs show views of Berlin and other parts of Germany.
Ashley W. Oughterson collection
The collection includes a small amount of correspondence; a notebook including Oughterson's account of his travel to and first days in Japan in 1945; a form for examining those exposed to the atomic bomb; clippings and articles about Oughterson; obituaries including a lengthy memoir published separately by John F. Fulton and Eugene Davidson; photographs; and articles on military medicine and the atomic and H-bomb collected by Oughterson.
