Letters by or relating to Robert Sewall Browne and wife Alice Gray Browne, circa 1894-1908. Circa 170 letters document Robert Browne's efforts mining gold in Alaska and Yukon Territory--142 of these letters were exchanged between Robert Browne and Alice Gray Browne. 28 letters concern Robert Browne's death in Alaska. Included are 80 letters addressed to Alice Browne and son Carl Gray Browne.
Thomas R. Hill papers
The papers consist of correspondence between Thomas R. Hill, Jennie M. Hill, Angelo Heilprin, and others, Thomas Hill's journal and drawings of gold mining in Alaska, and papers of the Philadelphia Exploration and Mining Company, which organized to mine in Alaska.
Sherwood Sterling papers
Chiefly the business records of four companies in which Sherwood Sterling was active. The most complete records are for the Sterling Grate Bar Company which manufactured furnace grates. Included are patents, legal and financial papers, and advertising. The other companies were engaged in mining in Alaska. Also included is printed matter from F. T. McIntyre describing his Hypnotic Ball Treatment for the cure of diseases and for psychic self-improvement.
