The collection consists of illustrated 19th century trade cards (small printed cards, bearing tradesmen’s advertisements and including an illustration); early 20th century advertising cards which were distributed by merchants or manufacturers to advertise or promote their business or product; and a small number of collecting cards.

The collection contains drafts and print editions of scripts, scores, and other writings by American playwrights Edward Albee and Tennessee Williams, and musical theater writer and composer Stephen Sondheim. Also included is correspondence, contracts, and other materials related to the publication of Sondheim’s and Williams’s works; photographs; printed materials, such as playbills, souvenir programs, periodicals, and clippings; and notes and inventories related to the collection.

International Imperial Court System collection
The collection consists of programs, fliers and handbills, tickets, leaflets, certificates, medals, pins, and other ephemera and memorabilia related to the LGBTQ group the International Court System (ICS), also known as the International Imperial Court System. Materials primarily document activities of individual courts in California and the Pacific Northwest in the 1970s and 1980s, including annual Coronation Balls, drag shows, and other charitable or social events.

Sean Strub papers
The collection consists of direct mail samples, printed material, correspondence, photographs, memorabilia and ephemera, writings, and computer and audiovisual media documenting the work and life of gay rights activist, publisher, and entrepreneur Sean Strub.
Ladislav Sutnar Collection
The Ladislav Sutnar Collection documents the post-war graphic design career of Ladislav Sutnar from 1945 to 1975 through examples of publications and ephemera he designed for specific clients. Sutnar worked for a variety of clients, including RCA, Knoll, the AIGA, and the Museum of Modern Art. The collection also includes letterhead and promotional materials he designed for himself.
Volvelle collection
Jessica Helfand, a graduate of the Yale School of Art Graphic Design Program (MFA ‘89) and a respected critic of visual culture, collected hundreds of examples of the volvelle format. In December of 2004, Helfand donated the collection to the Arts Library.
Ken White Collection
The Ken White Collection documents the graphic design career of Ken White from 1964 to 1985 through examples of publications and ephemera he designed for specific clients. White worked for a variety of clients, including IBM, Better Homes and Gardens, and the Phoenix Art Museum.
