Abstract:

Chiefly an autograph collection of approximately three hundred letters, two United States Navy Department letterbooks (1873-1876), photographs, drawings, and a small amount of F. C. C. Boyd's financial papers. Most of the items are American, although several are European, including one signed by Pope Urban VIII. Major topics covered by the colletion include numismatics, the theater, and the United States Navy.

Edward Cyrus Cole papers

Abstract:

The papers consist of correspondence, subject files, articles, speeches, book reviews, and material on the Yale School of Drama, including Cole's course notes, production notes, reports, financial papers and slides of productions. The subject files are of particular interest for the material from the early days of television, ca. 1948. Cole's work as a theater consultant is shown in the blue prints and other material prepared for theaters in Dresden, Malmo, Philadelphia and Stanford.

Correspondence, diaries, an autobiography, writings, research notes, and teaching materials of Jack Randall Crawford. Also included are a small amount of papers belonging to Dorothy Gabain, Crawford's second wife. The largest part of the papers is made up of plays, fiction and literary criticism, both published and unpublished, written by Crawford. Also included are lecture notes and texts and students papers reflecting his teaching career at Yale University (1909-1946).

The records consist primarily of the production files maintained by Leland Starnes as director of the Yale Dramatic Association (Yale Dramat). Included are prompt scripts, notes, photographs, cast lists, rehearsal schedules, sheet music, budgets, ground plans, stage designs (sketches), programs, posters, sound recordings, and newsclippings. Also included are a complete set of meeting minutes of the Yale Dramatic Association from 1960 to 1968 and a small amount of correspondence.
